“Preparation is hard work, running is the easy part”
– Edwin Moses.
We focused on
achievement, but never ask questions on how to get there. You have a role
model, pray to achieve such stardom, but do you also prepare and pray to have
what it takes to face challenges your role model overcome before getting there.
There is no such thing as overnight success, not even through luck. Seneca knew
quite well before he says “Luck is where opportunity meets preparation.”
“By failing to
prepare, you are preparing to fail.” says Benjamin Franklin, even with talent.
Those who attain success using talent have to polish it more. We have seen
people with talent failed multiple times relying solely on their talent while
those labeled stupid win focusing on practicing the act until they are good at
it. Talent is a gift; it is your duty to prepare for using it to be ahead.
Abraham Lincoln says “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend
the first four sharpening the axe.”
Do you know
that the fun of any achievement is in the preparation? And when you fully
prepare for any challenge, your confident level will be high. In his own way,
Thomas Edison asserted “Today preparation determines tomorrow’s achievement,”
the extent of your preparation will determine the measurement of your success.
Two people might be successful in the same profession at the same time but what
will determine the little different in their level of achievement is not luck,
but to what extent one goes in preparation to another. Preparation is critical
to long-term achievement. So get to work now!
