Overcoming Your Fear

By On June 11, 2018
"Fear is interest paid on debt you may not owe” – John C. Maxwell
Fear is full part of our life, everyone experience fear in one area of their life. One of the the major enemies to your greatness is fear. It is mostly caused by our past experience, but most especially unknown outcome of event; thus, the popularly statement “fear of unknown”. One thing I have experienced about fear is that; it is generated out of negative thinking. Remember “negative thinking is a mental hunger, feed it with the only food, positive thinking” – Balogun M. Adewale. In other words ““Fears are nothing more than a state of mind.” Says Napoleon Hill

In reality about 95% of our fear will never come to pass. They are only generated by our feeling and sometimes our past experience. Henry Ford from experience share this about fear “One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn’t do.” The only thing we have to fear when you are afraid to move on is fear itself” because fear lead to failure while uncertainty could lead to success. “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” — Nelson Mandela

Fear has a good friend; procrastination, and procrastination is a well-known quality of a loser. Postponing what you need to do today till tomorrow is a gradual step towards failure, never good room for it.  Dale Carnegie advised “Do the thing you fear to do and keep on doing it... that is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear.” Believe me, if someone can do it and has done it before, you too can do it. Never let fear steal your trophy.

Start with What You Have, Start Now!

"Don’t let life discourage you” “everyone who got where he is had to begin where he was” – Richard L. Evans.

If only I have the required capital, if only I have B.sc, if only I have the right connection, if only my parents are rich…….all are alibis. The resources needed to achieve the dream at hand is with you at every point in time, look inward, meditate, ask yourself what is the way out, what is the next alternative. Believe me, there is always a better alternative. You may delay, but time will not, and lost time is never found again” says Benjamin Franklin

Those who believe opportunity come but once may be right, we have countless number of people who remain the same today as they are years back just because they always postpone till next day what they need to do today. If you doubt that, you may like to meditate on what Abraham Lincoln  have to say on this, “Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.” Don’t be among the people who always eat the leftover, double your action; stop putting till tomorrow what you should do today.

Discouraging yourself from pursuing your dreams because you lack what you think is the most important thing is a waste of time and energy. The most important resource needed is you; so start the work now. A journey of a thousand miles, they say, start with a single step. According to Norman Vincent Peale “The really happy people are those who have broken the chains of procrastination, those who find satisfaction in doing the job at hand. They’re full of eagerness, zest, productivity. You can be, too.”
